The correct mechanical preparation is a vital part of the application process:- a system applied to withstand negative water pressures can only be as effective as its bond to the parent structure. Multiple layer applications ensure a joint free installation and the physical application thickness gives some flexibility in overcoming random profiled substrates.
It is essential that, where any movement lines between structural elements and / or where cracks remain live, pre-treatments of supplementary products are used to provide a flexible seal prior to commencing render or screed applications. Thin section factory mixed and blended cementitious mortars /coatings offer inherently similar solutions to multi-coat render/ screed applications. The applications thicknesses range between 2 & 6mm, produced as complete blended systems by the manufacturer with factory controls. The systems are often used within the Water Industries as internal linings for containment solutions. The production of a waterproof lining within a thin system section makes their use desirable in areas where access is limited ( less tonnage of materials are required and the application times can prove to be shorter).

PROFILED SHEET MEMBRANES These systems do not prevent water from travelling through the structural elements on internal applications, but rather control its subsequent passage around the structure once it has passed through the structural building element. Profiled sheet membranes provide effective draining cavities for moisture entering the structure.
The systems minimise preparation work as the system is not adhered to the structural surfaces, but anchored into the structure.
